Quality Control Technician

Company Overview:

Position Responsibilities:

The successful individual will work within the Quality Assurance Team to ensure compliance with various codes and the client’s drawings and specifications. This is an important position in the Quality Assurance department for a motivated team player with flexibility and a positive attitude.

  • Work with: Project Manager, Engineers, Designers regarding specific requirements for projects
  • Ensure testing QA processes are applied to the project
  • Review quality of work performed on a regular basis, bring any concerns to those responsible for area
  • Create/update Inspection Test Plans
  • Create project specific Quality Control Checklist booklets and monitor for completion and accuracy
  • Document project manufacturing progress through detailed photographs when required
  • Review material certification reports for incoming material, verify acceptance and file in the applicable QA project folder (QC and QA duty)
  • Document any non-conformance items with an NCR (anyone can initiate an NCR) Confirm/review management of NCR’s
  • Monitor “Opportunity for Improvement” forms, review/sign off
  • Work with Production and Engineering/Design to account and minimize manufacturing deficiencies
  • Other duties as required

Required Qualifications:

  • Welding certification (ASME Level 1)?
  • Experience, knowledge of, or be willing to learn our Quality Management System and the ISO 9001: 2008 Standard
  • A positive and conscientious attitude is essential
  • A motivated individual, who enjoys working within a friendly and energetic team
  • Ability to communicate with AFS/STI team members and clients, in a clear and professional manner with a good command of English in written and verbal skills
  • Participation in meetings when required
  • Time management skills
  • Willingness to learn and increase scope of position; cross train as required

  • Familiar with fabrication processes

Production Scheduler

Company Overview:

Position Responsibilities:

  • Define, Initiate, support and facilitate the successful completion of customer requirements as determined by the Production Manager
  • Outline Milestone Schedules, Capacity Plan, Gantt Charts
  • Liaison between all areas of operation (production, sales, procurement and quality) to coordinate and ensure a timely arrival of materials to support production start and on-time delivery of product
  • Set-up and monitor “Scrap control tags” – to ensure prompt reorder of any material that may get scrapped during the production process…….Replacement Orders
  • Create and provide management with weekly performance reports relative to customer purchase order requirements
  • Assist wherever required to remove bottlenecks
  • Create an environment of continuous improvement
  • Facilitate daily meetings at the production floor level
  • Lead and introduce lean initiatives
  • Develop, generate and maintain shop / work cell capacity plans & schedules
  • Manpower forecasting – using the capacity plan the planner / scheduler will periodically prepare a report with current manpower requirements to project future manpower requirements……broken down by cell / project / month
  • Develop and maintain visual manufacturing boards daily – KPI’s, schedules, performance metrics
  • Other duties as assigned

Documentation Technician

Company Overview:

Position Responsibilities:

  • Work with Project Manager and team, to provide QA/QC document support
  • Communicate with client directly through email transmittals & provide traceable document support
  • Receive communication and documents from client for filing and database entry
  • Transmit Doosan required Quality documentation to client
  • Assemble paper documentation packages for clients
  • Attend meetings when required eg. Doosan Production meetings, project information, QMS, ISO etc.
  • Meet with DC/QA/QC Team members bi-weekly
  • Provide support for paperless initiative and digital Adobe Acrobat Pro 11 use
  • Advisory role on document efficiency, train others as required for back up coverage
  • Provide support to QA/QC Team members
  • Able to work within & promote the Quality Management System and support Quality programs
  • Other duties as assigned

Mechanical Engineer

Company Overview:

We use innovative technologies to provide ASME ‘S’ and ‘U’ engineered products.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop and produce mechanical system concepts and designs including P&ID, piping, and HVAC. Coordinate with designers and other engineers to ensure solutions can be efficiently and cost-effectively integrated.
  • Responsible for delivery of mechanical engineering documentation; understanding customer requirements, developing technical specifications, designs and production sign-offs. Responsible for ensuring the designs conform to all regulatory and code requirements.
  • Assist in estimating design timelines for each project. Monitor mechanical design schedules.
  • Select and specify appropriate equipment and materials for mechanical systems.
  • Develop Bills of Materials, drawings, design documentation, etc. Assist with ongoing improvements to design practices and procedures.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills in handling multiple projects, performing a variety of tasks, and meeting required deadlines.
  • Perform work as a project team member and as assigned by the Engineering Manager
  • Some travel may be required
  • Other duties as required

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Eng. eligibility or registration with APEGBC.
  • Minimum of 4 years related experience in mechanical design including piping, P&ID, and HVAC for industrial applications.
  • Thorough knowledge of design procedures, specifications, and engineering software (Solidworks and AutoCAD).
  • Thorough knowledge of manufacturing processes.
  • Working knowledge of regulatory requirements and safety regulations such as CSA, UL, and ASME.
  • Ability to work closely with suppliers.
  • Ability to take initiative in areas of importance and cooperate in harmony with team members.

Additional Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications:

  • Familiar with British Columbia Building Code, National Building Code and National Fire Code.
  • FEA modelling experience.
  • Equipment support design experience.
  • Work closely with other engineering disciplines (electrical and structural) to ensure effective integrated solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Considerable knowledge of industry standards.
  • Familiar with Excel formulas and Microsoft Office.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines.
